What is resource mapping?
This is a system for collecting and plotting information about what a community has available to support its members. A resource map lets the community know what we have, what’s lacking, and who can help in times of need.
This tool is one way we can look out for each other when traditional institutions falter. But resource mapping yields benefits even before a crisis hits—the very process of building the map empowers residents. Working together collaboratively to build the map sparks and strengthens personal connections, ultimately cultivating a more resilient community.
This project was started by Bookish, East Atlanta’s indie bookstore. Read more here: https://www.bookishatl.com/resource-mapping

Food Resources
What is a "food resource"? Essentially, we want resources that provide free or discounted opportunities for a single meal, ingredients to prepare meals, starter plants for growing your own food, or opportunities to connect with a meal delivery service for the most vulnerable. Anything that falls under these categories:
- Staffed Food Banks
- Community Gardens
- Self-Serve Refrigerators & Food Pantries
- Free Community Grocery Distributions
- Farmers Markets that double EBT funds
- Free meal opportunities
- Seed & plant swaps
- U-Pick Farm Opportunities
- Food delivery programs for the elderly & disabled

Get Involved
We need folks who can research online, submit and verify information, or canvass their neighborhoods, workplaces, or faith communities to get the word out.
Easy ways to get involved:
- Follow Bookish Atlanta on Insta for project updates.
- Submit a food resource you know about. It only takes a moment, and you can do it from anywhere. Scroll back up on this page to see a bulleted list of what we’re looking for. Once your submitted resource has been verified, you'll see it pop up here within a few days!
- Spread the word by sharing Bookish’s Insta post about the project. We also have free cards you can hand out to neighbors, co-workers, and friends. Swing by the bookshop at 1188 Glenwood Ave anytime and ask for a handful!
- Join our next Community Pitch-Ins. These in-person meetings around the project typically last from 6-7 or 7:30. We meet at Neighborhood Church in Candler Park at 1561 McLendon Ave.
Our favorite way to get involved? Get your book club involved or host a neighborhood potluck to submit resources together over good food. 🙂 Thank you for looking out for your neighbors!
